I Will Not Die An Unlived Life

I am so into quotes, when I find a quote I write it in my quote journal for future reference. I found this one just the other day.

I will not die an unlived life. I will not live in fear of falling or catching fire. I choose to inhabit my days, to allow my living to open me, to make me less afraid, more accessible, to loosen my heart until it becomes a wing, a torch, a promise. I choose to risk my significance; to live so that which comes to me as seed goes to the next as blossom and that which comes to me as blossom, goes on as fruit. - Narkova

Just thought I'd share. Jenny

Guess who is five

Yes, my niece Renna has turned the big five. I know I am a little late in posting this, since her big day was the 27th. She is also a first grader now, and going to private school. Wow, how she reminds me of my Brooke, they so resemble one another in looks and personality. I hope your year of being five is a great one. HAPPY BIRTHDAY again sweetie!

Love and miss you,

Auntie Jenny

Class Routine and Behaviour Rules

This is a picture of the art tray I have as a kitchen center piece on the table. I thought since they are always doing something crafty why not make their supplies easily accessible. Just a serving tray from Target with several assorted plastic cups that are filled with crayons, markers, scissors, paints, etc. Billy and Brooke love to have all this out and ready to use.

I thought some of you might get a kick out of the rules Billy's teacher sends home at the beginning of the school year. To some they may sound extreme, but to Billy it is all he has ever known. They are effective and work, and kids crave structure in their life.

  1. Students must maintain proper posture while seated at desks, with hands on desk and the chair and desk flat on the floor.

  2. Students must raise their hands and wait for permission to speak.

  3. Students must answer in a complete sentences whenever appropriate.

  4. Students must stand at their desks when drilling.

  5. Students must line up in order - ladies first.

  6. Gentlemen will open doors for the ladies.

  7. All tests and star charts must be signed by a parent and returns to the teacher by the next school day. It is the students responsibility to ask Mom and Dad to sign the papers.

  8. Students must address all adults with "Ma'am" and "Sir".

  9. Obey: Right away, All the way, Cheerfully and Every time!

Well, have to go and get them started with homework.

First day of school

Well, we survived the first day of school. Billy and Brooke were ready for school early, so we took some photo's before leaving this morning. I can't believe my little girl is in Kindergarten, Brooke had a great day, she has been excited to go for the last month. When I went to train at the school last week the kid's went with me, so Brooke got to spend time with her new teacher, Mrs. Key, and she really likes her! Brooke was excited that they started today learning how to tell time.

Billy has also been excited to get back to school and learn new things. I can't believe he is already in the 2nd grade! He seemed a little disappointed when he said that he only had one sheet of homework to do. He did say they would be learning about Egypt, and doing 3rd grade math (they are a year ahead in most subjects). He really thought it was cool to have me at the school this morning, I wonder how long that will last! Here are a few pictures of this morning-enjoy!

Kentucky State Fair

Thursday we braved the 90+ heat and spent the day at the fair. We started the day with a horse show, then saw a trick dog show, magic show, and went through the arts and crafts building. Brooke participated in the Kentucky state police junior traffic safety program, and received her safety town driver's license. We then made our way to visit the cows and sheep etc. at the animal barns. We also ate yummy fair food.

Our New Blog

We are finally joining the blogging world. I see blogs all the time on my favorite scrapbook message boards. I tried to resist. Then, today, I couldn't resist anymore. I thought it would be a great tool to communicate with family ad friend's. So welcome to our crazy life!
